[en_hijri_date] Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Assalaamu alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barkaatuhu …
As at 2010, Muslims constituted 17.6% of the population of Ghana – (source: Ghana statistical service) … Info from other online websites also depicts 45%, 34% etc. All in all , Ghanaian Muslims are on the minority side of the population. My coming here today isn’t to talk about who is more than the other and definitely not here to compare sects.
Coupled with the frown most non-Muslims in Ghana give to Muslims at the hearing of any Muslim related news be it the Tafo Clash, the Fulani herdsmen, Guantanamo Bay Prisoners, Suwaiba’s missing baby etc.
It was totally disturbing last week while in a trotro(public transport) from cape coast when I had to listen to a young Muslim brother talk about how being a Muslim prevents him from embarking on initiatives or even talk amidst Christians. I was about to go all “holier than thou” on him when I begun reminiscing how I had the same feeling back in my Junior High School days till I got to know a few other Muslims with confidence, Muslims who never hesitated to voice out their thoughts anytime anywhere, Muslims who walk the talk. It might seem weird to most of you but trust me – the struggle is real.
This is to raise awareness for a new found love among most Muslim youths in the zongo communities of Ghana which I think deserves the need to be highlighted. THE JIHAD MINDSET!!!
Alhamdulillah, There is a new generation of young Muslims who want 1+1 to be whatever they want it to be… gone are the days when young Muslim sisters hid timidly in their rooms scared to take action, when all Muslim brothers did was sit at the “BASE” and talk about how disrespectful that girl is or laugh about how their friend left town after impregnating that girl…NOPE!!! Those days are long gone. The new breed of JIHADISTS is what is filling our communities now. The focus of this post is to celebrate our young Muslims and to let them know that their work and contribution to the development of Ghana and Islam is acknowledged and well appreciated.
In no Particular order, Meet 10 Young JIHADISTS FROM GHANA
AKA TRAYDEE TRAYDEE is one man I really admire and Envy at the same time.
Abu Huraira (RadhiAllahu ‘anhu) reported Allah’s Messenger ﷺ as saying: When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased). [Sahih Muslim – Book 13 – Hadith 4005.
Zakaria has got all three(3) hence my admiration and envy. Zakaria upon witnessing the challenge people of his vicinity, particularly the kids had to go through to cross the gargantuan gutter which was filled with all sorts of rubbish you can imagine decided to take action by gathering a few able bodied men and also soliciting for funds through social media. Just that this time around the purpose of the men wasn’t to disrupt an election process or fight for a politician but to build a foot bridge which people could use to access the other end of the gutter without literally passing through the gutter. The Father of two one-day I’m sure would have his children thanking him for this act.

Among the fascinating initiatives of Brother Sharif include Halal-Jobs where he urges the Ummah to seek Jobs which in no way contradicts the teachings of Islam by advertising Halal-Jobs for the Ummah and he does this through his Facebook Page.

Amadu Mohammed is the co-founder and director of Achievers Ghana, a nonprofit organization providing education to more than 200 girls in some slum areas of Accra. The organization facilitates access to education for the youth (especially female) through the provision of scholarships, financial aid and educational materials to those who cannot afford it as well as guidance and counseling. It all begun when Amadu had to prevent a 12 year old girl from being forced into marrige. Amadu aims at working to ensure girls have a right to education in the slums of Ghana. He had to quit his banking job to set achievers Ghana because he believes in helping the girl child. The interesting part is the girls learning how to code and use technology to solve problems.
